20 Random Ideas to Boost your Sales

07/01/2020Charles Törnros

When we are hacking away every single day dealing with problems, helping troubled clients, doing the VAT return, and everything else, it’s easy to forget about our creative edge. Fresh out of ideas at the moment and want to try some new things to help boost sales? Make a cup of tea and take 5 minutes to read this list.

  1. Contact your past sales prospects to ask them how you could have made the process of buying from you easier or more appealing.
  2. Send a random surprise to your best customers, such as a basket of fruit, muffins, or a tub of jelly beans.
  3. Check all of your customer touch points to make sure that contacting you is as simple as absolutely possible.
  4. Create an add-on product or service to offer to your existing customers on top of what they have already purchased.
  5. Reach out to the key influencers in your market or area and ask them how they would improve your products or services.
  6. Make sure that you are listed in local directories or any location-based search online, this may even help your search rankings.
  7. Take those tasks that have been on your list for ages and start the job physically before starting mentally. Your brain will eventually catch up.
  8. Write down your strengths. Outsource anything that needs achieving which cannot be achieved with one of your strengths.
  9. Find other businesses that may be interested in cross-promoting with your products or services.
  10. Randomly over-service your best customers so that they know they are appreciated without your over-servicing becoming a norm that gets taken for granted.
  11. Take part in a public speaking event or an interview on camera, and use this to show your customers, employees and investors that you are a thought leader.
  12. Experiment by marketing or selling your product in a completely different sector or area, at the same time ignoring your competitors.
  13. Sponsor or run a local event for your community and use the opportunity to plug yourself and your brand.
  14. Ask for a referral or testimonial immediately after delighting a customer.
  15. Set up specific ‘exclusive’ offers for different parts of your target market to help better connect with individuals.
  16. Offer your existing customers a discount off their next purchase in exchange for referring a new customer to you.
  17. Contact old customers who have drifted off the radar to ask them how they might improve the product or service that you provided.
  18. Blog about a completely random subject that may interest your customers on an individual level, even if it has nothing to do with your product.
  19. Create product bundles so that you always have a reason to try and upsell a person who decides to buy something.
  20. Send monthly emails to your existing customers with a small amount of digestible content
